Christoph Bezemek work area
Christoph Bezemek works at the interface of constitutional law, legal theory and state theory. At the centre of his academic interest is the relationship between the legal system and the individual and the political community and how law shapes this relationship as a prerequisite and limit for the exercise of state power.
Recent publications on this complex of topics deal with questions of the protection of fundamental rights in the jurisdiction of the highest courts, the future of global constitutionalism, international constitutional law or the nature and value of jurisprudence in general. The team's current research projects deal with the position of the head of state, the relationship between punishment and retribution and constitutional interpretation.
